I wanted to write something special in the spirit of Thanksgiving today. This year has been A-M-A-Z-I-N-G to me and a defining moment in my career in many ways. This November marks two years since I made the decision to become a wedding photographer and start a wonderful journey into the unknown. In the beginning everything seemed impossible, an unattainable dream but somehow – and almost like magic – everything always worked out for this to happen. I guess it was meant to be no matter what. There were times when I felt defeated but I never gave up and just like that all the doors started to open and all the opportunities presented themselves. It was God’s hand behind everything. Since the conception of the original idea I had to keep my daytime job and work endless nights and every weekend was tough. That was probably my biggest challenges of all. I knew I would learn, I knew I would get great clients, I knew I would find the initial investment to start up, but dealing with being tired and burned out all the time was very intense. During those times, I kept repeating in my mind a passage from the bible that says: “…if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” and that was the thought that kept me going during hard times – and it still does.
Have faith, just a little faith and BELIEVE YOU CAN. I think I have said this to myself every single day for the past 2 years. I’m convinced that the worst thing in life is not knowing what we want, not knowing our passion or discovering what motivates us and keeps us waking up early in the morning and keep us up all night. But once you discover what THAT is, all you need is a little faith and an immense amount of ACTION and DETERMINATION to materialize that dream and make it happen. I’m glad I found that passion and that I kept going to see it become a reality. I’m specially grateful because this past September I finally found the courage to leave my comfort zone, quit my job – which wasn’t just a job but a 15-year career in graphic & website design – to dedicate 100% to my wedding photography business. I felt it was the time and that I was ready and boy was I right… I will never look back and I’m so happy I feel God’s presence every day giving me the strength and the inspiration to continue to grow!!!
This closeness to God makes me realize even more and more every day what I’m grateful for in my life… My husband and my son are my biggest motivation, the loves of my life who make me laugh and let me BE just the way I am. I know LOVE thanks to them. I’m grateful because I still have my mom and dad alive, and because thanks to Skype I can see them every day :) I’m grateful for my two brothers, my sisters-in-law and all my wonderful nephews and niece, I love you all :) I’m grateful for be living in this wonderful time of communication and technology. My perfect cup of tea, well, coffee, yessss I’m grateful for Starbucks and Mac and Nikon… And to finish this GRATITUDE post that means so much to me, I want to say that I’m specially grateful for my friends, my fabulous clients – I have the most amazing brides ever – and the people I work with; the people that supports me and my career, my mentor, my second shooters, they’re all my close friends! I have a great team and I’m so happy and grateful for that.
If you have a dream, a little desire in your heart and don’t know how to make it happen, remember my story. Just a little faith and a ton of action and you’ll see it materialize in front of your eyes! DARE TO DREAM & TO BE SUCCESSFUL! Happy Thanksgiving everyone… Here’s a little preview of one of my best friend’s best friend, Sonia & Brian, a beautiful couple that is so special and sweet. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in December! You guys are INCREDIBLE!!!!
Sometimes I blog and sometimes I mega-blog… This is a MEGA POST for sure today! From the moment I met Mathew and Giselle I knew I was going to love being their wedding photographer! I had the feeling their wedding was going to be gorgeous but I had no idea it was going to be this STUNNING! From the very Hollywood Glam style that Giselle chose for her look to every little detail in the reception, everything was simply perfection. At Giselle and Mathew’s engagement session in Vizcaya I knew these two were going to be so photogenic and gorgeous that I couldn’t wait. Well the ceremony was beautiful and the reception so much fun, everybody was dancing and when the Brazilian dancers showed up for la hora loca the crowd went crazy! There are so many fun pictures – and I still haven’t even seen my second shooter’s images yet – but I had to keep it to a minimum… at least from my perspective of course :) I’m so grateful to have to opportunity to work with this entire loving family and such incredible team of vendors! I’m in love with all these pictures, I hope you love them too…
From the moment Giselle and Mathew stepped into my studio I knew I wanted to be their wedding photographer. Not just because they make such a cute couple or because she’s drop-dead-gorgeous but because they were so much fun! As you can see in the pictures they had a great time laughing, making out, jumping up and down… When Giselle told me she wanted to do their engagement session in Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami I was the one jumping up and down… after all it’s my favorite place in Miami, the lighting is always fabulous and there are so many areas to choose from. We were kind of running away from the rain for days, we had to re-schedule our original session because it had been raining every single day… but this day, it was just perfect. The sun came out for the shots I wanted the back lighting and overcast for the most part, just the way I like it :) I can’t wait for their wedding in the Coral Gables Country Club less than a month away, I can predict Giselle is going to be a bride out of this world!!! Enjoy the pictures, I hope you all like them.
